We love Serra da Estrela Mountain dog as you do. That’s why we care about testing our dogs and keeping them at a good Standard, without serious genetical diseases and at FCI standard is like you we hope, our reference.

We handle living animals, therefore we do not know the
lifespan of the animal, on average 10 and 12 years.
However, all breeders in the union must do everything
for the well-being of their animals and:
Commit to testing your dogs for cardiomyopathy (DNA or ultrasound)
Provide DNA tests certified by the Frenc « Central Canine » (Official French canine organisation) to avoid inbreeding and genetic diseases. Commit to testing your dogs for dysplasia with obligatory elbows and shoulders, reeds (optional).
Provide certified radios and tests to UFPCSE.
Prohibit consanguineous genetic crosses
and the same family overa minimum of 5 generations.
